includes general rules and host-specific rules. here are Alton Brown’s (my future husband), which aren’t nearly has hilarious as some of the others, since he can actually cook.
and yes, I watch Food Network way more than I’d like to admit.
“How does a brainy overachiever like Eric Lander meet a girl, fall in love, and get married? He searches for a similarly brainy overachiever and then approaches her the way he would approach a differential equation—using all his skills and never letting up.
Lander met his future wife, Lori Weiner, in a constitutional law class during his sophomore year at Princeton. “She was so passionate,” Lander recalls. “The way she talked about constitutional law and justice—I was very taken with her.” So, as Lander puts it, he “contrived to get to know her better.” Weiner was on the budget committee, so Lander wrote about the budget process for the school newspaper (and eventually joined the committee himself). Weiner worked on the student course guide. Lander offered to work with her. Weiner wanted to go to Japan, so Lander “developed an interest in Japan.”
Over the years, the two got to know one another as colleagues and friends. “We didn’t even go out in college,” says Lander. “We just worked together.”
But he had his sights set on the future. Before Lander left to do his graduate work at Oxford, he and his amore had dinner at a Chinese restaurant. As Lander remembers it, “Lori said, ‘I like you a lot, but I’m not interested in going out with you.’”
To which Lander replied, “Good. I’m not interested in going out with you either. I just want to marry you.”
Weiner had no comeback, and the two were married four years later.”
how often does a line like that actually work? Lander is such a pimp.
I saw a screening of Kick-Ass last night. And well, it kicked ass. Really funny, awesome fight scenes (with a kick-ass purple-haired little girl!), and the main character was kind of adorable, even if he sounded like he was hitting puberty during the shooting of the film.
this has the potential to be some sort of awesome cult classic, so you should definitely see it when it hits theaters, especially if you’re a comic book nerd (I’m looking at you, cerpintaxt). it doesn’t come out til April 16th so unfortunately you’ve got a bit of a wait.
the screening was ultra-high serious-business security - we had to give men in suits our cell phones before going into the theater. you know it’s awesome when they go crazy like that.
this photo was too awesome to not caption.
sorry mrs. obama. I do think you’re awesome but your face was just ridiculous.

I wish I could have been there.. it looks totally amazing.
I saw a sneak preview screening of this movie last night. the premise, as you might have deciphered from the title, is completely absurd. absurdity aside, it’s a total riot and I kind of loved it. 80s clothing! 80s music! and it features john cusack (swoooon!) and craig robinson (hilarious!)!
it comes out march 26th. if you need to relax with something silly, I’d definitely recommend this.
